The Vancouver Whitecaps have advanced to the next round of the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup after defeating Costa Rican outfit Deportivo Saprissa 2-0 at BC Place in Leg 2 – good for a 3-2 win on aggregate to settle the series.

A perfectly headed goal by Brian White in the 46th minute – served on a platter from an equally well-placed cross by Jayden Nelson – proved the difference on the evening as the Whitecaps welcomed their supporters back to BC Place for 2025 with a home victory. A corner kick scare in the 85th minute marked the closest opportunity Saprissa mustered out of their 15 total shot at goal, though it smacked tantalizingly off the crossbar and spared the Whitecaps – as did a handball shout in the box in the dying embers, waved off by VAR.

White added a second goal to his evening's tally as he cleaned up a Ryan Gauld free kick in the 91st minute, securing the victory for the Canadian team. Jesper Sorensen's side now take on Mexican giants CF Monterrey in the next round, with the winner of CD Alajuelense vs. Pumas UNAM up next, should they also advance in that series.
