CanMNT striker Lucas Cavallini joins Club Tijuana after ending Whitecaps stay
Canadian international striker Lucas Cavallini has officially signed for Liga MX outfit Club Tijuana (Xolos) after calling it time on his Vancouver Whitecaps tenure at the end of the 2022 MLS season.
Cavallini, 30, joins Xolos as a free agent and returns to Liga MX to continue building his legend as El Tanque – The Tank. During his first spell in Mexico, the Canadian earned a reputation for physicality and lethal attacking play, scoring 28 goals in 81 matches for Puebla. He brings with him 18 goals in 68 Whitecaps appearances, and a FIFA World Cup experience with Canada under his belt, too.

Cavallini is one of Canada's most prolific goal-scorers, having notched 18 goals in 35 international appearances for Les Rouges since making his debut in 2012. He'll hope to find his scoring feet once more in Mexico as the battle for Canada's starting spot up top remains open, with Jonathan David continuing to score at Lille OSC in Ligue 1, and Cyle Larin quickly finding the back of the net in La Liga with his new club, Real Valladolid.
