CanWNT roster announced ahead of International Friendlies against Iceland and Korea Republic
Canada Soccer has revealed the 23-player roster set to represent Canada during the November FIFA international window. Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team (CANWNT) will travel to Murcia, Spain, for two international friendlies. The team will face 13th-ranked Iceland on Friday, 29 November, and 19th-ranked Korea Republic on Tuesday, 3 December. Both matches will take place at the Pinatar Arena in Murcia, Spain.
With an average age of 23, Canada’s roster strikes a balance between experienced veterans and emerging talent. Notably, Jeneva Hernandez Gray from Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Megan Reid from Angel City FC have earned their second call-ups to the CANWNT. Meanwhile, U20 Women’s National Team players Janet Okeke from North Carolina State University and Nyah Rose from Southern Methodist University receive their first call-up.
The Friday, 29 November match against Iceland will kick off at 19:00 (local time) (13:00 ET / 10:00 PT), and the Tuesday, 3 December match against Korea Republic will kick off at 18:00 (local time) (12:00 ET / 9:00 PT).
Both of Canada’s matches will air live on OneSoccer, available on the fuboTV Canada platform, as a linear channel on Telus’s Optik TV (Channel 980), as well as online at OneSoccer.ca and through the OneSoccer app. Fans will find extended coverage across Canada Soccer’s digital channels on Facebook, Tiktok, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube featuring the hashtag #CANWNT.
Canada has faced Iceland twice since 2016, earning one win and one draw. Their most recent encounter at the Algarve Cup in February 2019 ended in a 0-0 draw. Before that, Canada claimed a 1-0 victory over Iceland in March 2016.
Against Korea Republic, Canada boasts a 7-1-1 (win-draw-loss) record dating back to their first meeting in 2000. Their most recent match, in June 2022, ended in a scoreless draw in Toronto, where Canada dominated but was unable to break through Korea Republic’s organized defense. Prior to that, Canada defeated Korea Republic 3-0 in the final of the 2018 Algarve Cup.
