Does Richie Laryea need to 'grind it out' amid lack of playing time at Nottingham Forest?
Could Toronto FC fans expect a quick reunion with newly-departed right-back Richie Laryea?
The 27-year-old made a huge move from Major League Soccer to English Premier League promotion-chasing hopefuls Nottingham Forest, a deal that was signed and sealed on January 8, 2022.
But, since then, Laryea has yet to feature for Nottingham Forest, and with playing time proving a crucial necessity in a World Cup year, Andi Petrillo wonders what's next for the former TFC fullback.
"Word is that Richie would like to return to Toronto," Petrillo offered. "We know that's not as easy as some players would obviously like, because as we know, when a player is sold, then when they want to come back, they have to go through an allocation process. Bottom line is Toronto is not first (in that allocation order) in being able to choose him."
A loan move back to Toronto would also help shore up Bob Bradley's makeshift backline, which currently features two attack-minded wingers - Jacob Shaffelburg and Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty - as full-backs.
However, the move is still fresh, and, as Tom Walker on Twitter points out, there are a number of factors at play in why Laryea isn't getting playing time just yet.
