POST-GAME ANALYSIS: Atlético Ottawa, Forge FC earn huge wins vs Valour, York in 2024 TELUS #CanChamp

Atlético Ottawa and Forge FC are moving on to the 2024 TELUS Canadian Championship quarter-finals after defeating Valour FC and York United respectively in the first round, with Ottawa putting up seven unanswered goals in a 7-0 win, and Forge dispatching their 905 Derby rivals 3-0 at Tim Hortons Field.

Ottawa put Valour to the sword early and often in the first 45, scoring four goals – including a back-to-back double within 120 seconds, a feat they repeated in the second half, as Alberto Zapater, Ruben del Campo, Ollie Bassett and Ballou Tabla all found the back of the net in a total drubbing of the Winnipeg-based outfit.

Meanwhile, over in Hamilton, Forge FC's CPL player of the month Tristan Borges asserted himself on the match with timely assists to Jordan Hamilton and David Choiniere, helping his team cruise to a comfortable win over their nine striped foes, despite a late consolation goal by 

Forge now gets a fourth consecutive date with CF Montréal in the Battle of the North, while Atlético Ottawa will get the winner of Pacific FC vs. TSS Rovers FC later in the evening.
