REPORT: AC Milan interested in Lille OSC, CanMNT striker Jonathan David
Lille OSC and Canada Men's National Team striker Jonathan David is on the radar of Italian outfit AC Milan, reports La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Milan, currently top of the Serie A table with a two-point lead over Internazionale, has shortlisted the Canadian striker as one possible new addition in the summer transfer window, though GdS reports that the 22-year-old isn't the only option for Stefano Pioli's Rossoneri.
David is currently contracted to Lille until June 2025, but has been linked with a number of bigger clubs this summer, including Inter, Arsenal, and Liverpool.
Having started the 2021-22 Ligue1 campaign in fine form, bagging 12 goals to lead the league in the early stanza of the season, David's scoring streak turned cold in December.
Since then, he's only scored in one match for Lille in 2022, and has now gone 10 matches in a row without finding the back of the net for the French outfit.
Speaking to Prime Video about his run of form, David said: "Our strength (last season, when Lille won the Ligue1 title) was in our low, solid block.
"It made us difficult to face. We have not managed to find that again this year to make the difference.
"We've had highs and lows, but we've tried our best."
Still, with 17 goals in 46 appearances in all competitions for Lille OSC this season – to go along with his two goals in six matches for Canada in 2022 – David's value remains high.
Milan is currently undergoing something of a renaissance at the San Siro, as new investor-owners promise to fuel another wave of signings this summer.
