REPORT: Atiba Hutchinson departing Besiktas after 10-year Süper Lig tenure?
Canadian international Atiba Hutchinson could be departing Besiktas after 11 years with the club, as Turkish news outlet NTV reports the Istanbul-based outfit has opted to terminate his contract, alongside that of his teammate, Georges-Kévin Nkoudou.
Hutchinson, 40, has been a mainstay at Besiktas since joining the club out of PSV Eindhoven in 2013, quickly establishing himself as a starter in midfield– a position he's maintained over the past decade as captain of the club, garnering 333 matches played over 10 seasons (the most of any international player in club history).
But following a series of devastating earthquakes in Turkey that have thrown the Super Lig season in disarray, it seems Besiktas is ready to move on from Canada's on-field leader at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, much to the dismay of his many and loyal supporters who have dubbed him "The Octopus" for his spanning reach across the pitch.
